In 1890 some interesting late antique funerary remains were found in the area of Girona called Mercadal. Those were later related to a large burial area but were not interpreted convincingly. Now we know better that historical period for the entire city of Gerunda and we propose a martyrial origin, linked to the place where Felix would have been killed during the persecution decreed by Diocletian.
